I've purchased four of these hats now as gifts and one for myself several years back. The very first one was for my husband. We were in a hat store in Santa Fe, New Mexico visiting family, and after trying on several hats, he loved the Barmah kangaroo leather hat the best. This was our first introduction to Barmah, and I purchased the hat as a gift for him. He loves wearing it in the summer and when it rains.I was so impressed with my husband's hat that I purchased one for myself to use during volunteer K9 Search and Rescue work a couple years ago. I treat my Barmah hat regularly with Permethrin because of the huge volume of ticks dropping down on us from the trees in the area where we train and search for people. The hat has not only protected me from heat, rain and sun, but helps to keep the ticks from getting into my hair.Next we brought another Barmah hat as a wedding gift for my husband's cousin, who was a groomsman. And finally, this is our 4th purchase of a Barmah hat, as a gift for his Aunt, who loves the hat.It looks amazing on her, and fits perfectly! You can see the scratches, scars and texture on each of our hats from the individual kangaroo it was made from. All are hunted from the wild and everything from the meat to the skin is utilized in Australia as a very important resource, and the leather of these hats really shows the character and battles that each roo faced during its life. Her hat was especially scarred up, which the Hickorystone coloring brought to the forefront, and she loved how rugged and beautiful the hat was.Thanks again Barmah for another great hat! They are my favorite outdoor hats and I highly recommend them to anyone who is needing a hat that can hold up to intense outdoor activity, yet they always continue to look fashionable and really cool despite their very utilitarian qualities.I recommend anyone who purchases these hats to follow the instructions and leather condition them periodically, as well as not leaving them crushed up for long periods of time. They love to be worn and will shape themselves to the unique shape of your head.
